Monster Hunter World: Iceborne came out of the PC last week, and for many it was a bother, some older players signed in to delete their old data anonymously.
The problem seems to be affecting those who haven't signed in to the game for a while, leading to speculation that it may be related to the old save that doesn't exactly match the new game type.
Whatever the cause, a problem arises when players are instructed to “Failed to read the Monster Hunter: Iceborne saved data. Create new backup data? ”, Or have old data stored there. By clicking yes on the request, most people just agree to write to them, you are writing to them a new final, old file.
To avoid this problem yourself, you should stop the game and when asked "do you want to close without end", say "yes".
You'll find some people on this Reddit thread and this is a Steam guide with tips on how to recover your file once you've been hit, but if it's another, if you're one of those who have no love, your way to keep praying or hope that Capcom can do something about it.
