Hey, late capitalism has reached a new and depressing milestone: digital businesses run by real people.
Published in 2006, Roblox is a cross-platform multiplayer game where players can use official tools to create, play and share their own games and experiences with Roblox huge audience. Some of these games can become extremely popular, attracting millions of players and potentially making some money for their developers. Other experiences in Roblox
Discovered by The playerIkea is looking for Hire 10 “happy candidates” to work in the furniture manufacturer’s new digital office Roblox Business. Employees are paid £13.15 ($16.82) an hour and (this probably goes without saying) the work is entirely remote. Ikea is only looking for people aged 18 and over, living in the UK and on a “fixed-term contract.”
So what will real Ikea employees do all day in a digital store? According to the retail giant’s official websiteColleague Roblox will work in “various areas” of the digital store, helping people find furniture, serving customers meatballs and giving them the chance to win “exclusive” content.
To apply, you will need to answer a few questions, including: “What would you do if [Ikea] Are you tired of pixelated hot dogs?” and “How do you feel when you are turned into pixels?”
Please note that this is not officially affiliated with or endorsed by Roblox. This can be seen in the fact that Ikea, unlike the studio manager of Roblox, does not want to exploit children in its digital business.
However, Roblox himself has hinted at his plans to potentially hire people in the future to use the online game. I can’t wait for my grandchildren to be in Roblox Mines that dig up digital diamonds for the TikTok kings and queens who control our ruined economy.
