Interview questions about Diablo IV accused of being fabricated

A video was released last week showing two lead developers working on it Diablo IV: Associate Game Director Joseph Piepiora and Art Director John Mueller. In the clip, the pair were presented with a series of questions from “fans,” which they answered at length, but it wasn’t long before it turned out that the questions were…oddly specific.

Here is the video published on the Future Games Show channel, which I believe is dedicated to both the game and the event, which is an annual presentation of the British media publisher and more specifically its video game page GamesRadar:

Diablo 4 developers answer YOUR questions

Philtacular watched and was among those who found the questions a bit oddHowever, since the Future Game Show was so helpful in providing each questioner’s social media info, they looked up each one.

But this is not an isolated case! There are plenty of them!

I won’t include them further, but there are also accounts from other sites like Reddit that also have no evidence that these questions were ever actually asked. This, of course, has led to claims that the questions are made up, a ruse that could be explained at least in part by the FGS asking community questions for one Diablo IV I did an interview on May 13th and… didn’t get a single response.

I have reached out to both the FGS and Blizzard for comment, and Blizzard has provided an insightful response my city “Blizzard was not involved in collecting the questions.” A community representative Also posted about the video in Diablo subredditHe said: “This was an interview that Joe and John did on an EU press tour to numerous media outlets last week.” [These] Interview questions came from the media and we simply answered them. The team contacts the point of sale and asks where the questions came from.”

If the questions were actually made up, this would be just the funniest example of how pointless it is to put together those unforgettable pre-promos; What was so unshakable about this agreement that after seemingly receiving no real questions, instead of, I don’t know, getting the staff to do it, they seemed to make up some shit? GamesRadara video game website organizing the event– to ask a few questions instead? Why care? It’s such a stupid scandal about something that nobody else would have cared about!
