Apparently the reports came true: Kit Harington really doesn’t want to give up his time in Westeros. On Thursday, A Song of Ice and Fire author George RR Martin confirmed Last week’s report that HBO is developing a sequel to the spinoff series about Jon Snow. Martin couldn’t provide any further details on the series and suggested that fans should keep an eye out for an official HBO announcement instead.
The sequel series has the working title snowand will apparently be about Jon Snow’s life after the events of game of Thrones HBO series. in a (n Interview with the BBC, Emilia Clarke said Harington told her about the show and that he was heavily involved from top to bottom.
Martin also confirmed this and explained that the series was Harington’s idea. Martin also said Harington selected the writers and showrunners for the series and that the actor and his team came to New Mexico to work with Martin and Martin’s team to develop the series’ story and premise.
In his blog post, however, Martin, now a TV veteran, notes that this series is currently in development and not officially greenlit. That means it’s still entirely possible that this show won’t get filmed, or get a pilot but not a series order, like e.g game of Thrones‘ Long night Precursor.
snow is the fourth live action game of Thrones Spinoff currently in development. There is also a series called Ten thousand shipsand a series called sea serpent (or maybe Nine trips) and finally the “Dunk & Egg” series, which will be called either The Hedge Knight or A Knights of the Seven Kingdoms. There are also several animated Game of Thrones projects in development.
None of these series, which currently use working titles, have yet been officially greenlit and will likely depend heavily on the success of this year’s house of the dragonwhich is slated to come to HBO in August.
When this series comes to light, it probably won’t be very long, especially since we don’t know anything about its writers or showrunners yet.
