Yes, you heard that right. At the back end of the Game Awards 2022right after the developers at FromSoftware received their Game of the Year award Elder Ring, a youth emerged from the shadows to nominate former President Bill Clinton (?). Shortly after host Geoff Keighley announced the person had been arrested.
“Hey Martin, you know real quick, I want to say thank you to everyone and say that I think I would like to name this award to my Reformed Orthodox Rabbi, Bill Clinton,” the boy said right after Elder Ring Director Hidetaka Miyazaki had finished his acceptance speech. Security rushed to the stage before he could finish with a “thank you.”
The non-sequitur hit viewers as they awoke from their collective video game trance-trance, and of course social media quickly descended into chaos. who was this kid Where is he from? Why was he talking about Bill Clinton, a man who had ceased to matter long before he was born?

If you go back and rewatch the end of the Game Awards live stream, you can see the kid stand up and move towards the FromSoftware crew as they go to the stage to accept the award. Then, as each of them speaks, he’s seen waiting patiently in the background, shuffling nervously and licking his lips repeatedly as he prepares for his fifteen seconds of internet fame. I have no idea if he was trying to be funny or doing a 4Chan-inspired anti-Semitic deep cut, but in a world where one of the most popular rap stars of all time is currently praising Hitler, I’m willing to believe the worst, until proven otherwise.
Keighley shared a chuckle as he returned to the stage to wrap up the ceremony and restore a little semblance of normalcy before attendees headed off to the after-parties. “Okay, well, eventful evening,” he said, obviously unsettled by the youthful display he had just witnessed. But he has the last laugh. According to Keighley, the prankster is now in the hands of the Los Angeles Police Department, a fate nobody deserves.
