For someone who is not at all interested in Deadpool, I found myself talking about him, his movies and plays with his ass a little more than I expected. With this in mind, I would now like to share with you my latest letter: not Watch the final trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine if you care about spoilers at all. I don’t even care about spoilers and I still think this trailer is insane a week before the big movie. I can’t talk about why though without giving the whole thing away to you all, so…
I guess Dafne Keen Is back as X-23, huh?
After months of questions about a possible repetition of her role as the legendary X-MenDescendants of 2017 Loganwe finally have confirmation. The latest trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine somehow gives away Keen’s return near the end. In her brief on-screen appearance, X-23, also known as Laura, appears to have a tense, intimate conversation with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) before turning away from him.
Keen, who also appeared in the recent war of stars show The Acolytehas been fend off all questions about her involvement in the film for months. Whenever she was asked about possibly appearing in the film, she insisted that she was not asked if she wanted to be in it, but instead was “watching it as a fan.” Of course, no one really believed her, considering how central Keen’s character was in Loganwhat was to be Jackman’s last portrayal of Wolverine in 2017. When will the comic book film industrial complex stop to force these actors to lie to us
The version of Wolverine that X-23 meets in this film is completely different from the one that meets in Loganbut. As the trailer also reveals, The Wolverine comes from another universe and never knew X-23 or witnessed the tragic events of that film. Nevertheless, she seems to come to him in a moment of crisis and tries to set his head straight before he begins the fight to save Deadpool’s universe and his loved ones.
Deadpool and Wolverinethat is supposed to bring the franchise and the main character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe always had that chance. These movies are full of cameos and nostalgia bait, so I never really doubted Keen’s involvement, but it’s still absolute nonsense to have this character come back, have the actor lie about it for months, and then reveal it in promotional material a week before the film’s premiere? I guess that’s one
Elsewhere, the trailer also reveals that Lady Deadpool will play a role in the film, which has the internet abuzz as well. Many believe she will likely be played by Ryan Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively, but an even wilder group of people are desperately hoping it’s her best friend Taylor Swift instead. As a Swfitie, that’s where I’m focusing my energy. I guess we’ll find out that, as well as the extent of Keen’s involvement, when Deadpool and Wolverine will be released next week.
