Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night and yelled, “No more kings, no more queens, no more magic seekers!”? If yes, The Magician: A History of League of Legends aims to satisfy that sudden midnight urge to violently alter the political landscape of a fantasy realm. Hey, it’s a lot easier than overthrowing capitalism.

If you are plugged into the world of lol and his expanding media empire, then you knew The Magic Seeker came. As unveiled in JanuarySouth Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee let the magic cat out of the fantasy bag with a quickly removed listing being mentioned The Magic Seeker as an upcoming action game starring the champion Sylasa guy who’s kinda sick of it all Mageseeker Kill Mage Business. Today Riot Forge officially unveiled the game about a new trailer entitled “The Year Ahead”. It has also started the official website, which for now is sparse on details beyond a statement “coming soon for PC and consoles in 2023”. Watch the trailer here:

The Magic Seeker comes courtesy of Digital Sun. This name may sound familiar to you as it is the team that brought us here moonlightingan attractive little role-playing game that balances retail and dungeon crawling. From what little we can see in this new trailer, it looks like Digital Sun’s pixel art talents are being put to good use. It has that beautiful modern retro look that I always feel like I need more of in my life crossed with lol‘s signature art style.

Called in the trailer’s description of a “gloomy action role-playing game,” we know little other than the release window, the main character, and the setting: the turbulent city of Demacia. The action, only visible through stylized shards of glass in the trailer, looks bright, colorful, and fast-paced. Also different moonlighting, it looks like you can move diagonally, thank goodness. Having only four directions of movement is like playing an A resident Evil Game where you can’t move while aiming – I can’t stand that for long.

There’s no release date beyond the always-helpful “Spring 2023” banner in the trailer. The trailer also shows glimpses of other upcoming projects, including Song of Nunuan action-adventure game by Tequila Works (hoarfrost, cover), starring Nunu and his rideable Yeti Willump, due out this fall; And convergencedouble stallion games’ (speed brawl) platformer with flashy combat and signature lol Art styles to come this summer.
