Fate 2 reaches a pretty remarkable milestone next week when it launches The final forman expansion that concludes the story of the series that has been told since the first game in 2014. For some, this moment means everything, but there are others who cannot even begin to comprehend the magnitude of it all. This is because determinationAs much as I love it, it’s almost impossible to learn the knowledge of in an obvious way. Luckily, however, there are some people who try to make it a little easier.
The YouTube creator My name is Byf, whose career revolves around documentation determination‘s extensive and confusing lore, is one such person, and he has just premiered a ten hours Video describe the history of the series in detail. Every major storyline in the game, from the first moments of the first determination to the season that is currently coming to an end, made it into the cut. Even elements of the story that take place before the first game are shown in the video. The whole thing is huge, daunting, and also absolutely necessary.
Byf’s video, which contains timestamps and should probably be viewed episode by episode, begins by establishing the world of determinationits many factions and charactersand the story that shapes it before we dive into the first game. The events of the original title make up the shortest parts of the video, covering about five chapters over the course of about an hour. The bulk of the story only really gets going when Fate 2when Bungie had more or less found a direction for the more ambiguous elements of the franchise, such as the enigmatic darkness, and introduced seasonal stories that happened leak next week.
determination has always Incredibly Cool™ Lorebut both installments in the series botched their presentation. The first game required players to read Grimoire cards – which contained dense and lurid science fiction novellas – that were only available on the determination App, which means there was little to no way to find the most interesting texts in the game determination himself. Fate 2 has done a much better job of giving players codexes packed with books detailing ongoing conflicts and other interesting lore from across the galaxy. However, these tomes are under Fate 2The poor and complicated user interface, which gets worse the more you look at it, and which fortunately in The final formunder countless other Changes.
While Bungie has been working on mechanisms to better integrate its own interesting backstories into the actual determination Games, it also tells a continuous story with a lot of moving parts and big names. Things have only gotten worse on this front, considering how many stories have been removed from the game and thrown into a vault, like all Fate 2‘s seasonal storytelling and the vanilla campaign it launched with! It’s hard to manage a game, but it’s even harder to get into it determination and its narrative, because its developers messed everything up in the years that followed. Now you can understand why so many fans of determination loudly demand a new gamea new saga and a new beginning.
For such reasons, people like Byf were a kind of lifeline for the story-savvy fans of determination. Similar to Vaatividya clarifies and documents the intricacies of From Software’s notoriously obtuse work and follows all the narrative twists in determination‘s background and premise. Whenever I’ve fallen off the game, Byf’s lore videos have always managed to pick me back up and remind me of one of the reasons I’ve loved these games for nearly ten years. It could be the same magical Impact on all of you.
The final form will be released next week. If, like me, you ignore the recent leak and Complete your final tasks in the game this weekend, do yourself a favor and leave Byf’s video playing in the background. Hell, turn it on while you Pre-charging the thing during maintenance. Even if you don’t know every single detail by heart before the expansion comes out, I promise you’ll at least have a new (or renewed) appreciation for all the cool shit determinationdone in the last ten years.
