Find the Dectus Medallion Locations In Elden Ring requires a little effort – and carries some risks – but it is worth it if you want a safe crossing to the Altus Plateau.#

The Grand elevator by Dectus bypasses a mini-dungeon, dangerous cliff-side paths, and a tricky boss fight, dropping you (largely) unscathed at the southern end of the Altus Plateau.

Finding the object that activates the elevator is a little puzzle, but our Dectus Medallion Locations This guide explains where to look and how to get both parts without much effort.

Dectus Medallion left location

You can pick up the left half of the medallion pretty early in Elden Ring. The location is in Fort Haight, located in the east of Limgrave. On the map it says Fort Haight Westwhich is a little misleading. There is no eastern variant of the mini-fortress, so you only have to deal with the one in Limgrave.

The first challenge is to reach Fort Haight. Skeleton warriors with swords and shields will block your path, and a ballista on the fortress wall will periodically fire arrows at you. Use the wooden barricades to protect yourself from the ballista and carefully move around the south side of the fortress.

Here you’ll find even more enemies, including a crazy pumpkin-headed pumpkin with a flail on the steps and a few knights hanging around. Handle them carefully and make sure to grab the golden seed from the sapling in front of the steps and activate the Place of Mercy before heading in.

Fort Haight is home to more enemies – some wolves, a few skeletons with exploding pots, nothing too overwhelming until you reach the ramparts. If you’re struggling with enemies inside or outside the fort, I recommend leveling up (our guide to rune farm locations can help here) and trying again. Aim for level 10 or higher if possible. As tempting as it may be to power through with your spirit ash, you’re better off saving your summons for fighting the fort’s mini-boss on the ramparts.

This boss is a knight that uses the Bloody Slash ability, which hurls a blood bow at you and, if you get hit too many times, puts you into the Bleeding state. Bleeding is a quick way to end up back at the nearby Place of Mercy, so focus on a defensive playstyle where you dodge, get a few attacks in, and get back to safety. Magic users and those with ranged weapons will have an easier time, and having your Spirit Ash nearby gives the knight a target to attack that isn’t you.

You’ll receive the Ashes of War, the Bloody Slash – a useful ability that scales to Arcane and can inflict Bleeding on your opponents – and can complete Kenneth Haight’s quest after defeating the knight and clearing the fortress.

The right half of the medallion is a little more difficult to put on paper, but a handy trick and a little planned ruthlessness avoided most of the problems. The The correct location of the Dectus Medallion is in Fort Farotha location in Caelid at the Greyoll Dragonbarrow Site of Grace. If you haven’t been here before, this is an excellent place to collect runes in Elden Ring – as long as you don’t mind killing a defenseless ancient dragon to get them.

Fort Faroth itself is a bit of a nightmare. The ground floor is home to several bats that will stun you with sound waves, and harpies that will hurl poison at you and, even if you’re on high levels, can turn you into tarnished dust in just two or three hits. A build with a lot of vigor, stamina, and strength could probably get through and easily take out the enemies inside, but if you put together the Dectus Medallion early in the game, you probably won’t have that build.

What you can do instead is let your spirit ash bear the brunt while you go get what you need. I recommend starting with no runes or with a negligible amount that you don’t want to get back. Enter, use the jellyfish or lone wolf summons to distract the bats and harpies, and run to the back of the room. It’s almost literally a straight path — turn slightly left after the first wall — so the risk of getting lost is low.

Climb the ladder and open the chest above to find the right half of the Dectus Medallion. In my experience, the enemies down there won’t follow you upstairs. You can try to escape via the roof behind you, although two ghostly knights will appear and do their best to knock you down, or you could try to climb down and run through the ground floor again.

If your summoned spirit is still there, it should draw attention away from you while you exit the building. Otherwise, there’s a not insignificant chance you’ll get caught in a storm of bats, harpies, and poison – which, if you don’t have any runes to lose, isn’t really that bad.

Where to use the Dectus Medallion Halves in Elden Ring

Once you have both halves of the medallion, Head to the Grand Lift of Dectus at the northern end of the Bellum Highway in Liurnia — in the northeastern part of Liurnia of the Lakes, not far from Caria Manor.

There, activate the Site of Grace if you haven’t already and enter the circular platform between the four statues. The game asks you to lift the medallionand then a cutscene will play where the elevator goes up and drops you off at the southern end of the Altus Plateau – right behind two giant golem enemies. Ignore them, turn left, and activate the Point of Grace nearby.

Now you can wander freely across the plateau and eventually make your way to Leyndell, the royal capital, where only sunshine and beautiful things await you (spoiler: they don’t). With the Site of Grace activated, you won’t need to use the elevator anymore, and you won’t need the medallion anymore either.
