Every Pokémon is interesting and worth talking about. I don’t play a lot of Pokemon, but I enjoy the universe and I love learning more about the creatures in it. So, here’s another Pokémon! It’s Litwick!
Litwick details

Imagine you are in the middle of a dark and scary forest. Your phone is dying and you don’t have a flashlight. You hear thunder. It will soon be stormy and you have no idea where the cabin you are renting is or if you can even find it. And now that you think about it … where is your car? Panic sets in.
Then, as if the universe feels bad and wants to help, a small flash of light is noticed behind some nearby trees. You run over and see Litwick, a tiny Pokémon that’s basically a living candle. It smiles and waves at you with one of its chunky and sweet little arms. It then turns around and starts shuffling away, but stops when it realizes you’re not following it. It tilts its sweet candle head in confusion and waves its stocky little arm again. This time you will get the hint and start following Litwick. You hike in pairs through the forest and feel calmer than before. Litwick’s light is bright and his happy smile and adorable waddle help remove all the fear you had previously felt.
After following Litwick for a few minutes, your mind will wander. You’re trying to remember what this Pokémon has to offer. All Pokémon have one thing. Some of them are evil. Others stink. Some are just really stupid. What is Litwick’s business? You start thinking about it, but soon you feel a little tired. Your eyes feel heavy and your feet now seem to weigh twice as much. The forest floor feels like glue. You can’t keep up with Litwick and start falling behind which it notices and slows down as well. It … might have laughed when it noticed you were slowing down. Why…

After a few minutes you will have some or all of your strength back and push forward. But now your whole mind feels foggy and soon you can barely hold things right. Did you walk 20 minutes or two minutes? Rain begins to fall. Or has it been falling for a while? You stumble, but catch yourself. You stumble again, and this time the mud and your lack of concentration lead you to the forest floor. Litwick runs over to you and now, with his candle so close, you can see your hands clearly in the mud. But they’re wrinkled and not because of the rain. Instead, they seem … old. You quickly stroke your face with your old wrinkled hands and you can feel your cheekbones, your lips are now thin and cracked and your hair is starting to fall out. Litwick is getting closer. Then remember what it’s about, your adrenaline is finally kicking in and giving you a moment of clarity.
Litwick uses his flame to lead people into the dark and then sucks their life out of their bodies. You read about it Bulbapedia years ago. Now, wet, cold and alone, you realize (much too late …) that Litwick has sucked your life out of your body. Its flame becomes brighter. You kick it, but at this point you can barely move your legs, let alone offer a solid kick. Litwick seems to be laughing again and you notice your vision fade. You can barely breathe. Your eyes begin to close. A moment later, you hear a man screaming for you. You wish you could scream back, but you know your dead. When you finally pass you see Litwick walking towards the screaming man. You cannot warn your brother of what is coming and die knowing that he, too, will be drained like this. Litwick’s next victim.
So yeah imagine that! Wild stuff.
Random facts
- Creepy stuff. Hopefully your brother has a flashlight and is ignoring this deadly Litwick. If I know my brother, he’s fucked.
- According to some stories, Litwick also leads people into the spirit world.
- Litwick is one of the best Pokémon names out there. It’s cute, sure, but it also clearly explains what it is and does it in a few short letters. Good stuff. Whoever called it, you deserve a raise, or at least some nice scented candles.

I love Shuppet. Just a weird little guy. Salute to Pokemon who are weird little guys.
