European players of the popular massively multiplayer game Lost Ark faced long login queues since the game’s launch – and now developer Smilegate RPG and western publisher Amazon Games have admitted that there’s not much they can do to improve the situation due to the inflexibility of the game’s architecture. In a blog postSmilegate and Amazon said they cannot further expand capacity for the Europe Central region.
As promised last week, a new Europe West server region has been added. But since character transfers are not possible and cross-region play is not possible, this does little to help players who have invested time on the Europe Central servers.
“We know players in Europe still face long queues,” the development team said in the post. “The Europe Central region is full and unfortunately there is no way to increase the number of players per world in Europe Central. Adding more servers is not possible due to the complexity of all the systems that need to work together.”
The team noted that the Europe West region “is an attractive option for new players or for players who haven’t progressed significantly in Central Europe.” Players who purchased Founders Packs for the free-to-play game received a second variant of the packs to allow for switching servers without leaving behind the perks already claimed.
The post noted that the server transfer feature was actually just launched in Korea, where Lost Ark is available since 2019. But it’s a manual, weekly batch process and doesn’t support cross-region transfers, so it wouldn’t help Europe Central players in their current plight.
“We will not rest until we have exhausted all options,” said the developers.
the Lost Ark The team said they are actively working on a number of other fixes, specifically to improve matchmaking, reduce gold seller spam, and improve the stability of Crystalline Aura, an in-game subscription system that continuously grants various benefits to your character.
