Makoto Shinkai, the writer and director of Your nameHe has revealed his latest project. It’s called Suzume no Tojimari (Suzume Locking Up The Doors) and will be released in Japan in autumn 2022.

Suzume no Tojimari follows a 17 year old girl named Suzume who lives in a quiet town in Kyushu. Her life changes one day when a young traveler tells her he iss looking for a door. She follows the young man into the mountains, where an old door is surrounded by modern ruins. This is the beginning of their mysterious journey.
Shinkai writes and again directs the film. Masayoshi Tanaka, who previously worked with Shinkai Your name and Weather with you, will design the characters. Kenichi Tsuchiya is the animation director and Takumi Tanji is the art director. Both have worked before Your name.
At the time of writing, no additional staff has been announced, nor have any cast members been announced.
In the course of Your nameDue to the huge success, Shinkai has become one of the most famous directors in the anime world and has been synchronized “The new Miyazaki.” While trying to break into the anime industry, Shinkai worked in gaming at Nihon Falcom and directed the inaugural games for games, including Ys II forever.
Your name was fantastic and is easy one of my favorite anime features of the decade. It was a hard, if not impossible, act to follow. and Weather with you was a valiant but inadequate effort. Now that Shinkai isn’t exactly on his heels Your name, it will be interesting to see what he does has for the audience with Suzume no Tojimari.
