Vampires are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that means its heroes need a vampire hunter to keep the night at bay. blade is one of the MCU’s most anticipated upcoming films and rounds out a growing Marvel monster-verse, but it’s had a complicated production since it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019.

When is Marvel’s Blade coming out?
Marvel Studios blade has a release date of September 6, 2024. That puts it right in the middle of Phase 5 of the MCU and about a year ahead of the first of the next Avengers movies, the blade could play a role.

Yann Demange, who previously directed the HBO series Lovecraft countrywas announced as director of blade after original director, Bassim Tariq, left the project in September 2022, just two months before production was originally scheduled to begin.
Demange is expected to begin filming blade in Atlanta in the spring of 2023.

Mahershala Ali’s version of Blade made a cameo appearance (voice only) in a post-credits scene for The Eternals, in which Dane Whitman (played by Kit Harington), aka the Black Knight, opens a case containing the Ebony Blade, a powerful, magical, and cursed sword. Blade is heard off-screen asking Dane, “Are you ready for this, Mr. Whitman?”
As the Eternals embark on more cosmic adventures themselves, it seems likely that Blade will remain on good ol’ planet Earth and possibly alongside more street-level supernatural heroes such as Black Knight, Gael García Bernal’s Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, and Oscar Isaac’s Knights of the Moon.
Is Blade a remake?
No, it’s more of a reboot. The first cinematic adaptation of the vampire-slaying superhero started in 1998 bladeand continued for two more films: 2002 blade 2 and 2004s Blade Trinity. Starring Wesley Snipes as Blade, this trilogy was packed with bombastic vampire action and even featured a contribution directed by Guillermo del Toro.
Will Wesley Snipes be in the new Blade?
Neither Marvel nor Snipes have hinted that the original Blade actor would be returning to appear in Mahershala Ali’s blade, but it’s not off the table. While Snipes said he was surprised by Marvel’s 2019 announcement, he said in a statement at the time that “everything is fine.”
