Tom Holland’s Spider-Man sounds like it is in trouble when three theoretical titles for the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man 3 are signs of this.
Announced on Holland’s Instagram, which is a title for the third installment of the Marvel-Sony franchise Spider-Man: Phone home. The subtitle fits the high school theme exactly Homecoming and European holiday continuation Far away from homeand creates even more distance to Peter Parker’s home in New York City. (Good as well ET nod.)
But wait … is that the title?
In a separate post, Costar Jacob Batalon shared a different still image than the set with one different Title handling. Get ready for … Spider-Man: Home Wrecker?
Wait, there’s more! Zendaya came to the party a little later to reveal her own title: Spider-Man: Home Slice
Based on casting reports, which neither Marvel Studios nor Sony Pictures technically need to confirm, Spider-Man 3 will see Spidey get sucked into the multiverse. Holland, Batalon and Zendaya’s title goof seem to fit right into the premise of whether a title is legitimate or not. (Holland, who appeared on Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night to promote his new film cherry stayed tense.) But hey, even if the cast may be trolling Marvel fans, they still provided a first look at a movie – something become 2021 glow from the screen.
The linchpin for an actual multiverse comes after Mysterio tricks the world into believing that there are other planes of existence Far away from home … just for the audience to know through a post-credit cameo from J. Jonah Jameson from JK Simmons that maybe anything is connected (and that Peter Parker is Spider-Man – but that’s a whole different can of worms). Films appeared after Evan Peters’ Quicksilver from Fox X-Men WandaVision
Spider-Man 3 is supposed to put Doctor Strange in the fatherly role that Tony Stark has filled again Homecomingand rope up bad guys from well beyond the MCU – including Jamie Foxx’s Electro from The amazing Spider-Man 2 and Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus Spider-Man 2. There was no formal cast or key villain announcement, but rumors circulated that director Jon Watts’ dream of bringing Kraven the Hunter to the big screen might indeed materialize. (So keep your fingers crossed, he’s chasing Spideys across the multiverse.)
Whatever doors the film opens to the larger universe and whatever they call it, Spider-Man 3 promises to be MCU Spider-Man’s biggest episode yet. “The film is incredibly ambitious and I am happy to say that we can make it,” said Holland recently Yahoo
Spider-Man: Home Phone / Home Wrecker / Home SliceWatts, currently filming at Marvel’s home base in Atlanta, Georgia, is being re-directed by Watts, who has the rare honor of directing every episode of a single MCU Hero franchise (and again for a non-Sony Marvel film to get involved). Fantastic Fourin the not too distant future). As with all of last year’s Marvel movie calendar, the availability of theaters and reopening from state to state could change plans in a flash, but for now in the midst of the COVID pandemic Spider-Man: Home Phone / Home Wrecker / Home Slice is set for December 17, 2021. At the very least, Sony and Disney actually managed to close a deal just to get that done in the first place.
