Minecraft’s The next big update is coming up The wild update and it will add a lot of new nature-related content to the game. However, no fireflies! The glowing little bugs that were supposed to serve as a food source for the newly added frogs were removed from the planned update after Mojang received feedback from players that the bugs were poisonous to frogs. Oops!
For sure, Minecraft It might not be spring chicken anymore, but it’s still a hugely popular video game with millions of players and a shit ton of content added via dozens and dozens of free updates released over the last decade. And the next update, The Wild Update or the 1.19 update, adds even more to the blocky survival game including a new mangrove biome and ancient cities. And like everyone Minecraft
However, this created a problem. The frogs were supposed to eat fireflies, which would be added later via another update. But after a new video discovered by GamesRadar and published by Mojang, fans and frog lovers alike chimed in and shared feedback on this plan. Because they didn’t like it!
In the video, various developers at Mojang answer fan questions Minecraft and someone asked what happened to the planned fireflies, which have been quietly discarded and are no longer part of the planned wild update. Producer Anna Lundgren responded that when Mojang announced its plans to add fireflies as the main food source for the game’s new frogs, players reached out to the studio to let them know that many fireflies were actually poisonous to frogs.
So to save the frogs and prevent riots related to frog fans in the studio, Mojang grabbed a digital can of bug spray and killed the bright little bastards to save all the frogs in…whatever in the world Minecraft is called. Here we go with Minecraftia!
So when the Wild update finally releases sometime this year, it will have all the mud and frogs that fans are looking forward to, but no fireflies. Now if Mojang could remove all the chemicals that make the damn frogs gay out of the water, that would be cool.
