Baseball season has officially begun: it’s Opening Day for Major League Baseball. MLB The Show 24, which was released on March 15, celebrated the milestone with an update that went live on Thursday morning. Things are, uh, not going well. People on social media and forums are reporting serious issues that are making the game unplayable – like frequent crashes and freezes. And then there are the bugs that are just plain silly, like one particularly funny bug that causes some players to have big heads and small bodies.
An MLB The Show A representative posted on the game’s X account (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, noting that the developer is “aware of current issues and is working to resolve them.”
We are aware of the current problems and are working to solve them. Thank you for your patience.

Many of the issues seem to be related to the Diamond Dynasty feature, which is basically baseball’s version of EA Sports FC“s Ultimate Team,” where you collect players through cards to form a team. There are various modes in Diamond Dynasty, including ranked multiplayer and single-player mini-seasons.
The game has had some issues since release – especially on the Nintendo Switch – but the latest update seems to have caused even more problems. For many players MLB The Show 24 looks much more like this Backyard baseball or Super Mega Baseball than anything else.
There are many people who post that their players have small bodies with oversized heads, but others say that baseball players can be gigantic too.
Another big problem is the way faces are generated. Take these screenshots of Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Winckowski, Boston Red Sox infielder Emmanuel Valdez and Tampa Bay Rays third baseman James Mead as examples: Yikes!
The MLB The Show subreddit is full of people who have similar problems. Sony hasn’t announced a fix timeline, but Polygon has reached out to the company for more information.
MLB The Show 24 was released on March 15th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Last year MLB The Show 23 was celebrated for its story mode focusing on baseball’s Negro Leagues; This year features a new career mode dedicated to women in baseball: Road to Show: Women Pave Their Way.
