Warner Bros., that’s not how it’s done! There are rules and guidelines for video game reveals in 2023and “quickly casually mentioning it on a phone call” breaks them all!
However, that’s exactly what happened earlier today, amid a barrage of other news – like the fact we get more Lord of the rings movieswhen all we really needed was to just be left alone to watch the good guys until *Elrond voice* the long years of our lives are totally over – David Zaslav, President and CEO of Warner Bros., left us escape the new Mortal Kombat game is coming
Here’s a recording of the audio from the call:
Zaslav says the game has “ambitious launch projections” and will be released sometime in 2023. While it’s odd to hear a game announced without actually getting it see something about, let’s be honest here, that is Mortal Kombat 12 we’re talking here. It is that 12. Death throes. It is very likely that no one will be out here reinventing the wheel. If you close your eyes, think about it Mortal Kombat 11 then let your mind wander a few further out you’ve probably made it 95% of the way there.
We checked the last one when it was released in 2019, and it was pretty good! So when I speak of what to mentally project Mortal Kombat 12 looks like this, it starts in a sane place:
Ride through the momentum created Mortal Kombat X, Mortal Kombat 11 continues to push the series forward while maintaining the over-the-top, gory charm that has endeared it to fans over the years. I’d say the show was back and bloodier than ever, but I hardly notice the blood anymore.
