Netflix ‘Gunpowder Milkshake is about female assassins and lots of guns

Netflix continues its recent trend towards star-led action films Gunpowder Milkshake, a film about a group of female assassins who have to shoot many bad guys.

The first trailer of the film, which was released on Tuesday, introduces us to Sam, played by Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy

, Jumanji), a second generation assassin whose mother (game of Thrones‘Lena Headey) left her years earlier. However, Sam has to reunite with her mother to save an eight-year-old girl after a job goes wrong. The two call for a society of underground hit women, including Carla Guigina (Guardian)Angela Bassett (Black Panther) and Michelle Yeoh (Crouching tiger hidden dragon).

Other than that brief setup, this trailer is all about the shooting.

There are Gatling cannons, characters diving over countertops, mysterious old libraries, car fights, and for some reason a shootout in a 50s-style diner. Of course, the movie’s fights have more than just shooting. There’s also some hand-to-hand combat and at least one instance of a character rushing into battle with just two hammers.

The trailer never spends too much time in a shootout, but it seems this group of killer women will rush from one massive, extremely stylized brawl to the next, exactly what you’d hope for in a movie like this one.

Gunpowder Milkshakeand all of its thousands and thousands of bullets are expected to hit Netflix on July 14th.
