Now, before you start the internet-wide argument that Henry Cavill left because he didn’t like directing the show, let’s revisit a few details.
The Witcher Season 3 Netflix Views
First, The Witcher The third season is split into two parts, with the first half starting on June 29th. The rest of the season doesn’t arrive on Netflix until July 27, so some viewers may be waiting to enjoy the entire season at once.
Second, the way Redanian Intelligence The calculated viewership needs some explanation as it can be very confusing. Netflix used to only release information about how many hours a season was watched by people around the world, which of course favored shows with longer episodes and more episodes per season. However, now Netflix is dividing the watched hours by the season’s total runtime, so there’s no second half of it The Witcher The third season does not affect the way viewership is calculated.
Accordingly Redanian Intelligence, The Witcher The second season was watched for 310 million hours in the first ten days of its release, and dividing that by the official runtime, that’s 41.8 million views. Volume one of The Witcher The third season was watched 139.5 million hours in the first eleven days after its release. And when you divide that by runtime, you get 29 million views, down 30 percent.
Now, I myself was wondering if The Witcher can survive Henry Cavill’s departureand I can’t deny that the last few episodes have felt bizarrely edited and therefore confusing (There’s a reason my cityLuke Plunkett thinks it needs a map). But I think the series still shines if it keeps its focus on the trio at its heart: Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri. I don’t think the show deserves the ire it gets, but given the frequency it’s not surprising witcher Superfans are cis white straight guys who are still pissed that Philippa Eilhart is black on the show.
