Luffy and the Straw Hats are almost on Netflix. The live-action adaptation of the manga by Eiichiro Oda hits the streaming service August 31, and Netflix has released its longest-ever trailer to give fans a new preview of the show. Netflix released the latest version One piece Trailer on Friday in celebration of One Piece Day, which occurs on July 22nd each year.
The trailer reveals a little more about the crew’s journey than we’ve seen so far, including a look at the ship and the Straw Hats’ flag. We also get a few glimpses of the villains they’ll face this season, including Buggy the Star Clown.
Netflix also released one new letter from Oda himself He praised the show’s creators and cast, and shared how much fun he’s had working with them:
There was so much behind it – all the effort of the actors, the building of the world and the costumes, portraying things in a way only live action can do, the dialogues – and the whole process, with so many people putting their heads together, was a celebration in itself.
Oda also made it clear how excited he is for this series to finally be available to people after seven years of work.
“Now I love the production team and cast so much that I can’t wait for them to get the recognition they deserve from everyone around the world,” said Oda.
One piece will have eight episodes in its first live-action season. All episodes will be available to stream when the series releases on August 31st.
