The developers of Stalkers 2GSC Game World, released an extensive 35-minute video on YouTube on Monday, giving a taste of the upcoming sequel to their popular open-world shooter series.
In it, the Ukrainian team described how much they valued authenticity. This authenticity applies to the game’s real-life setting around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. But it also applies to the various other versions of the game that have been presented to fans since 2007. So if you feel like you’ve seen some of the same locations as in STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl
Given the length of the video, details are still a bit sparse for my tastes – including on how the oft-mentioned branching narrative actually works. We now know that there will be 35 weapons in the game, and that some of those weapons will have upgrades and attachments. We also know that the inventory system will work similarly to that of the original, with individual items like healing kits hidden diegetically in the environment. There will still be a certain amount of Tetris
STALKER 2 was originally scheduled for September 5, but was pushed back to November 20. The finished game will be available for PC and Xbox Series X, where it will be part of the Xbox Game Pass program and available to all subscribers on the day of its release.
