In addition to being good at letting players do what they want, Animal Crossing a series of newly made sexual clothing. New Leaf, released on the 3DS in 2012, was the first game to allow players to wear costumes in a custom made for the opposite sex, and New Horizons it takes that a bit by removing some of the dialogue that was unusually effective in the practice.
Mabel and Sable are hedgehog sisters who run new clothing stores Animal Crossing games. While you may eventually be friends with Sable, players will do a lot for business with Mabel, who is in charge of putting things first. He likes the needs of the player, asking them about any clothing they might be interested in and shares his opinion on the choices they make.
But if you are a male it is possible to choose a dress or skirt inside New LeafMabel will be a little surprised by this decision and ask if it is a gift.
The experiment with traditional women's clothing produces another comment from Mabel that, although it doesn't taste excessive, it still manages to make things worse.
I never found this conversation offensive, but it actually felt out of place there Animal Crossing. The game is about living in a fantasy world surrounded by lesbians in the middle of nowhere when you pay a mortgage interest-free loan to a forgiving and understanding landlord. Why does Mabel care if I choose to wear a skirt or a barrette for hair while tracking the rare fish and find the best color scheme in my bedroom?
While playing New Horizons a few weeks ago, I was ready for something similar from Mabel. The selection of dresses she carries with her sister greatly improved from previous games, but I found that I was attracted to the few pieces the women had on display. I was pleasantly surprised that Mabel had nothing but to say the good things I had chosen, even when I came out dressed in the dressing room with sharp dresses and riding pumps.
The community has made many outfits that are sexist, but in both Animal Crossing and in real life, it would be fun to wear anything that appeals to you. It can really change your relationship to dress and sexuality. Instead of seeing, say, suits as men and skirts as women, you can use these things to express whatever you want. When you remember women were injected with pants, of all things, really shows how these unbreakable ideas are going on in the long run.
Crossing the Animals: New Horizons it can continue to ask players to choose between only two men and two in the character creation, but at least the series has improved as the players tap into this strong, traditional binary and other ways.
