The Pokémon Squishmallows range will soon be expanded with two (semi-)new additions to the squeezable plush brand: Piplup, the penguin Pokémon, and a winking variant of Pikachu, the open-mouthed mouse Pokémon. These two pocket monsters will join the previously released Squishmallows Pikachu, Gengar, Relaxo, and Togepi at an unannounced date.
The official Squishmallows account tweeted the unveiling of Piplup and the winking Pikachu on Tuesday, but gave no details on when and where Pokémon fans can get the new stuffed animals. The 12-inch Snorlax and Togepi squishmallows were released via Pokémon Center website in April and sold out quickly. (Squishmallows—even those of the Pokémon variety—come in a variety of sizes and are sold at a variety of online and brick-and-mortar retailers. Pokémon squishmallows are often difficult to find.)
Polygon has reached out to squishmallow maker Jazwares for details on Piplup and the winking Pikachu and will update once the company responds.
Pokémon Squishmallows launched in November 2022 with the arrival of Pikachu and Gengar, after making its widely acclaimed debut at last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con. Luckily for the Squishmallows folks, The Pokémon Company did about 1,000 other Pokémon ready to be transformed into a soft, huggable, round boy shape.
