surveillance 2The first beta of is now live, giving players a preview of major changes coming to Blizzard Entertainment’s hero shooter. These changes include a new five-hero team structure, a new hero, a new ping system, and major overhauls to several characters.
In which over watch 2 In Beta, players will find very different versions of Bastion, Doomfist, Orisa, and Sombra on the list. Other heroes like Reinhardt, Zarya, Cassidy, and Winston have also received skill changes that update their gear in important ways. In general, there are fewer opportunities to stun enemies, and each role type has its own passive benefits: tanks get less recoil, damage characters get a speed boost, and all support characters auto-heal over time.
Here’s a breakdown of hero changes over watch 2‘s beta testing – and likely in the future.
bastion
The terrifying tower Bastion is experiencing some of the biggest changes in surveillance 2
Bastion’s ultimate has also been redesigned. Instead of transforming into a mobile tank with a powerful cannon, Bastion instead goes into artillery mode and fires up to three powerful artillery shells, raining down on targets.
doom fist
Doomfist switches from a damage role to a tank role, with a boost in health and a new Power Block ability that protects him from the front and can boost his Rocket Punch. Doomfist’s Hand Cannon, Rocket Punch, and Seismic Slam abilities have been tweaked, and his Shoryuken-style Uppercut ability has been completely removed. Meteor Strike, Doomfists Ultimate, now activates faster and slower enemies on impact.
sombra
Sombra’s revamp makes her a deadlier hacker and more of a damage dealer. While her Hack ability now interrupts enemy abilities for a shorter period of time, she also reveals the location of a hacked enemy to Sombra and the rest of her team. Hacked enemies also take more damage from Sombra itself.
EMP, Sombra’s ultimate, now deals 40% damage to enemies caught in the pulse’s radius, in addition to destroying barriers such as Winston’s protective energy dome.
idol
The centaur-like defense robot Orisa is radically changing surveillance 2, starting with removing their protective barrier shield and their hold! Graviton Charge Ability. These abilities are replaced with Energy Javelin, a new projectile that stuns and knocks back enemies, and Javelin Spin, which blocks projectiles, knocks back enemies, and gives Orisa a speed boost.
Your previous ultimate, Supercharger, is replaced with a new one: Terra Surge. Orisa crouches, sweeping in nearby enemies and unleashing a wave of damage after a short attack. It is also boosted by Fortify’s effects during Terra Surge.
Orisa’s primary fire, Augmented Fusion Driver, also changes. It now offers infinite ammo, but is controlled by a heat mechanic.
Reinhardt
As part of Blizzard’s plan to make tanks more powerful, Reinhardt now has two charges of his Fire Strike projectile. He also has more control during his charge and can cancel it.
Winston
Winston’s Tesla Cannon now has a secondary fire mode: he can charge it up and unleash a ball of concentrated electricity.
Zarya
Zarya’s personal Particle Barrier and teammate-focused Projected Barrier now share a cooldown, meaning she can back-to-back Bubble on herself or two teammates at once if needed.
Cassidy
Overwatch Cowboy Cassidy loses his Flashbang Stun ability for something more damage-focused: Magnetic Grenade. This short-range grenade targets nearby enemies – hence the magnetic descriptor – and can stick to enemies and deal extra damage when it explodes.
mei
Gone are the days of freezing players with their Endothermic Blaster. Your ice cannon still deals damage and slows enemies, but no longer turns you into an ice sculpt. Only Mei’s ultimate, Blizzard, will now completely freeze opponents.
Bridget
Also, Brigitte’s Shield Bash no longer stuns enemies. It simply knocks them back and deals damage.
