Colloquially referred to as “Pokémon with weapons“,” Palworld is about Build buildings and make medicine to survive on the beautiful and harsh islands of Palpagos. To achieve this, you capture monsters known as Pals and exploit their labor. They can do everything from fighting to building. While the catch is the similarity to Nintendo’s iconic IP, the game is a little closer Ark: Survival Evolved than anything Pokémon-related. The game has attracted a lot of criticism because its monsters closely resemble Nintendo’s, but it sells like hotcakes. It was actually so hot that it was like that more popular than Fourteen days for a short moment. That’s saying something.
However, there are some clarifications here. According to Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, Pocket pair confirmed that this sales figure only applies to Steam devices. This currently does not include sales on Xbox consoles or downloads through Microsoft’s subscription service, Xbox Game Pass. Either way, as Keighley noted, seven million copies sold on Steam represents about $189 million in revenue. That means Palworld Is currently more popular as Counter Strike 2, Dota 2And PUBG: Battlegrounds.
While these sales numbers are impressive, they pale in comparison to Nintendo’s monster collectors. The company unveiled in September 2023 that this is 2019 Pokémon games, sword and shield26.02 million copies sold in 2022 Scarlet and purple 23.23 million units sold. That’s not to say Palworld I can’t overtake any of these games, but the road ahead is long.
