Bayonetta and Nier: Automata Developer PlatinGames is growing. The producer announced on Thursday that he has opened a new studio based in Tokyo – Platinum has been moved to Osaka – that will promote gaming consoles, a new venture for a company best known for its one-player action games.
PlatinGames has experimented with live app games (or live ops) previously, but mainly on mobile platforms. This studio worked on two topics, Lost Order of Granblue publisher Cygames no The World of Demons of DeNA, which has been following the live service model, but both appear to have been canceled.
Executive Vice President and head of studio Atsushi Inaba calls the Platinum Platinum expansion “a step towards a new challenge.
"So far, the name of PlatinGames has become synonymous with single-player action games," Says Inaba on the PlatinGames website
“Our new Tokyo office will play a major role as we expand the development of live ops. The first members of our future ops team will be active when they are already part of PlatinGames. "
In Platinum's announcement, the studio featured four employees who will be working in Tokyo: Motoi Fujita, director of PlatinGames Tokyo; software engineer David DRM; project manager Miki Sato; and game designer Takahisa Sugiyama. All four have experience working on mobile topics, especially Electronic Arts & # 39; FIFA Mobile.
"Platinum has already received the support of fans that has made the games integrated," said Fujita, who has more than 20 years of game development on console and mobile gaming. "In the live ops series, finding the following title is an important step, so Platinum is profitable here. And I believe this can also be a change to introduce a new wave of fans to the PlatinGames series.
“Working on console and mobile, pack and live ops has opened me to understanding both sides of development. I hope to be able to combine these two psychological elements together to make some truly amazing games. ”
The PlatinGames announcement follows the unveiling of two details from the studio: a new project from game director Hideki Kamiya Project G.G. and Wonder 101: Restored, an updated version of the Wii U. action game. This studio works with action games Bayonetta 3 for Nintendo and The Fall of Babylon of Square Enix, and Sega just released the original Bayonetta and Finish for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
