UnitySony’s next big live service video game will apparently cost $40, according to a pre-order page on the PlayStation Store in Australia. That puts it in the same price range as Helldivers 2 and seems to be another sign that Sony’s live service titles will not all be free to play like Fate 2.

Unitythe debut game from Firewalk Studioswas first announced in 2023 during a major PlayStation showcase. The first trailer didn’t show much and many may have forgotten about it until State of Play event on May 30thwhere the online shooter kicked off the whole show with a somewhat generic-looking cinematic and gameplay that underwhelmed the internet. During that event, we learned that the game is a live-service 5v5 hero shooter set in a new sci-fi universe. And now we know that this new FPS from Sony will (probably) cost $40.

Discovered by Insider Gaming on 5th JuneA PlayStation Store page went live in Australia and revealed the price of Concord Base Edition and their fancy Special Edition. The Standard Edition costs AUD$60, or about USD$40. This version only includes Concord and nothing else. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs AUD$95 (USD$60) and includes early access to the game, as well as a number of additional cosmetics and skins.

Unitywhich is scheduled for release on August 23rd for PC and PS5, seems to follow a similar schedule as Helldivers 2, Sony’s huge hit from earlier this year.

This online sci-fi co-op shooter also retailed for $40 and also released on PC and PS5. It seems Sony is hoping the lower price will entice more players to give a live service shooter a chance. It also hopefully means the game won’t be filled with a lot of free-to-play nonsense and grinding, something Hell Diver has largely avoided it since its launch.

Of course, I have seen some people who were shocked that Sony is asking for money for Unity at all, which is not surprising considering the response the game received online. It also seems like from a different leakthat the real star of last week’s PlayStation event—AstroBot, Starting this year— will likely cost between $60 and $70. Note that none of these prices have been verified by Sony or confirmed for the US versions of the two games. Things are subject to change.
