Demo discs were a staple of the PS1 eraand offers curated snippets of upcoming games for players to test out while waiting for the next big release. While digital demos have become commonplace on the PS5 as well, a new free-to-play standalone version of Gran Turismo 7 takes the idea to a new level.
Sony is calling on December 6th My first Gran Turismo a “special free-to-play invitation” to entice new players to try out the 2022 entry in its long-running racing franchise. The standalone download for PS4 and PS5, which is not tied to a PS Plus subscription, includes the following:
- Three time trials
- Three music rally stages
- A complete suite of license tests
- 18 unique cars
- Kyoto Driving Park, Deep Forest Raceway and Trial Mountain Circuit
- Support for PS VR2 (on PS5)
“This experience has a special place in my heart as it is a tribute to the origins of the first Big tourismwhere players of all generations discovered the joy of driving,” wrote franchise boss Kazunori Yamauchi over on the PlayStation Blog. “Whether it’s introducing kids to the joy of racing for the first time or reviving a forgotten passion for driving, My first Gran Turismo has been designed to be both accessible and engaging, created for everyone, with no restrictions on age or riding ability.”
The publication takes place in parallel The ongoing PlayStation 30th anniversary event. The original Big tourism was one of the games that helped put PlayStation on the map when it entered the console race against Sega and Nintendo in 1994. The first game sold over 10 million copies.Gran Turismo 7is a great game even outside of its modern car economy and microtransactions. There's even a split screen for four players. The full version of the game normally costs $70 on PS5, but over the next few weeks the price has been reduced to $30.
