Pokémon Go is hosting a Chansey Community Day event February 4th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. your local time.
As expected at a Community Day event, Chansey will appear in large numbers and will most likely look shiny. There are also some other bonuses and perks that we list below.
How do I catch a shiny chansey?
According to old research from the now-defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback machine), Shiny rates on Community Days are around 1 in 24, meaning that if you keep playing during the three-hour window, you should find quite a few Shiny Pokémon.
Getting Eggs from PokéStops during this event will give you 2km Eggs, which often contain Happiny. These Happinys have a higher chance of being shiny. So if you want a shiny happy, this is your chance.
If you’re short on time or Poké Balls, you can pop one incensethen quickly Tap each Chansey to look for shiny ones and run away from anything that isn’t shiny. In particular, any Chanseys you have already tapped will face your player’s position, making it easier to see which Chanseys you may have already ticked.
What Community Day step is Chansey’s development learning?
If you evolve Chansey into Blissey between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. your local time, it will learn the charged move Wild Attack.
If you fail to evolve it during this period, you can probably evolve it during a Community Day weekend event in December to get Wild Charge. If you don’t want to wait, you can do the move with an Elite TM.
How does Blissey perform in the meta?
Blissey sees no use in PvP or PvE battles. However, it is a fantastic defender in the gym. Blissey is bulky and a really sturdy tank top, meaning that if you max it out and put it in the gym, it will put some people off making the effort.
How do I make the most of Chansey Community Day?
The following bonuses will be active during Chansey Community Day:
- 1⁄4 Hatching distance for eggs laid in incubators during the event
- Double candies for catching Pokémon
- Double chance for trainers level 31 and above to receive XL Candies by catching Pokémon
- Incense sticks last three hours
- Lure Modules last three hours
- Chansey’s special photobombs while taking snaps
- An additional special trade
- Stardust trading costs have been halved
That said, you should definitely put all your eggs in incubators, pop an incense stick, and try to grab a hefty Chansey.
If you can Mega development Pigeon Boss, Kangashan, or LopunnyYou will receive additional Chansey candies per catch.
Additionally, Niantic is still running special four-star raids from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., where if you complete the Chansey raid, they will spawn within a 300-meter radius of the gym for 30 minutes. These raids cannot be carried out remotely. If the usual spawn increase at 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. doesn’t result in the desired chansey, you can try again with a raid.
