Pokémon Go is hosting a Mankey Community Day event Sunday, November 10th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m in your local time.
As expected at a Community Day event, Mankey will appear in large numbers and will most likely look shiny. There are also some other bonuses and perks that we list below.
How to catch a shiny Mankey in Pokémon Go?
According to old research from the now-defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback machine), Shiny rates on Community Days are around 1 in 24, meaning that if you keep playing during the three-hour window, you should find quite a few Shiny Pokémon.
If you’re short on time or Poké Balls, you can pop an incense stick and then quickly tap each Mankey to look for shiny ones and run away from any that aren’t shiny. In particular, any mankey you’ve already tapped will be targeted to your player’s position, making it easier to see which mankeys you may have already checked.
What Community Day step does Mankey’s development learn?
If you evolve Mankey or Primape into Primeape or Annihilape between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. your local time, it will learn the charged move Rage Fist.
Primeape usually has an unusual evolutionary requirement to evolve into Annihilape. However, for this Community Day, the usual method has been temporarily replaced with a simpler method: Set Primeape as your buddy and catch 20 Fighting-type Pokémon. This will be active from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. your local time, so take advantage of this to take advantage and evolve these Mankey and Primeape.
If you fail to evolve it during this period, you can probably evolve it during a Community Day weekend event in December to get Rage Fist. If you don’t want to wait, you can do the move with an Elite TM.
How does Annihilape fare in the Pokémon Go meta?
Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, we don’t know the exact stats for Rage Fist. (Full disclosure: We prepare these posts a few days in advance since we don’t typically work on weekends!) PvP-focused sites like PvPoke predict that Rage Fist will help Annihilape and Primeape re-enter the meta after nerfs , which were introduced with the PvP change at the beginning of the season.
In terms of PvE content (raids and gyms), Annihilape is in the top 20 Ghost attackers if you get rid of Shadow Pokemon and Megas, but that doesn’t mean much. It is surpassed by many more common Pokemon: Gengar and Chandelure, as well as a variety of legendary Pokemon like Lunala, Origin Forme Giratina, Darkrai, Mewtwo – you get the idea. You can outright build and invest in an Annihilape if you want, but since there’s no Spirit Quick Attack, Rage Fist probably won’t move it up compared to these long-standing meta picks.
How do I make the most of Mankey Community Day?
The following bonuses will be active during Mankey Community Day:
- Tripled XP for catching Pokémon
- Double candies for catching Pokémon
- Double chance for trainers level 31 and above to receive XL Candies by catching Pokémon
- Incense sticks last three hours
- Lure Modules last three hours
- Mankey’s special photobombs when taking snapshots
- An additional special trade
- Stardust trading costs have been halved
That means you should definitely pop a Lucky Egg and Incense and try to grab a powerful Mankey.
If you can mega evolve Heracross, Blaziken, Medicham, Lopunny, or Lucario, you will receive additional Mankey Candies per catch.
Additionally, Niantic is still running special four-star raids from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with Mankey spawning within a 300-meter radius of the gym for 30 minutes if you complete the Primeape raid. These raids cannot be carried out remotely. If the usual spawn increase at 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. doesn’t result in the mankey you want, you can try again with a raid.
