“Galar is calling” is the season-long special research for the “Max Out” season in Pokemon Go.
Focusing on Galar starters Grookey, Hopplo and ScobbleIt begins with the decision “Choose a Path” between the three Pokémon.
The Galar Calling Special Research will be available until the end of the season, i.e. You have until December 3rd to apply. Once you log in and get started, it stays in your Special Quest tab forever, so you’re not in a rush to complete each step – and since there are 19 in total, there’s a lot to get through.
The quest debuted alongside the Go All Out event and the debut of several Galar Pokémon, a new UK regional exclusive, the Daily PokéCoin Bounty Ticket, and a new set of Go Battle League rewards.
Steps of the Special Research Quest “Galar Calling”
Available from September 3rd, you have until December 1st, 2024 to start the Galar Calling research. Once you have it in your Special Research tab, it won’t expire – meaning you can take your time completing the steps below. Thanks LeekDuck and help fill in the gaps with the following.
“Galar Calling” Step 1 of 19
- Catch 8 Pokémon (3 Charged TM)

Choose a Path Result: Which Galar starter from Grookey, Scorbunny or Memmeon should you go adventuring with?
While the starters of the main entries are often harder to get in the wild, this is not the case with the “Go All Out” event – which means Choose Grookey, Scorbunny or Sobble in Pokemon Go is simply a matter of what you prefer.
The quest choice not only determines which starter you will Encounter at the end of step 2But which you need to further develop in steps 4 and 5and who you will become Get candy for steps 4 and 5.
The other consideration beyond the above is that whatever you choose in this research step will have above-average statisticswith a “Floor IV” of 10/10/10 (out of a possible maximum of 15/15/15). This means you are guaranteed to get a medium-strength version of this Pokémon, so if you plan on adding one to your battle party, this is the one to go for.
However, you can easily catch other starters with similar IV levels through field research and eggs during the Go All Out event, not to mention the possibility of getting good stats through wild catches and a bit of luck. In other words, this is far from your only chance to get a Galar starter with good IVs.
In summary, the Choose a Path quest doesn’t offer anything exclusive, so go with your favorite of the three. (For us, it’s the Grass Starter. Always the Grass Starter.)
