Pokemon Go has a Popplio Community Day Event on Saturday, August 31, from 2-5 p.m. local time.
As expected from a Community Day event, Popplio will appear in large numbers and there’s a high chance it will look shiny. There are also several other bonuses and perks that we’ll list below.
How do I catch a shiny Roblio?
According to old research from the now defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback Machine), shiny rates on Community Days are around 1 in 24, meaning you should find a lot of shiny Pokémon if you play through the entire three-hour window.
If you’re short on time or Poké Balls, you can pop an incense and then quickly tap each Popplio to check for shiny ones, running away from any that aren’t shiny. In particular, any Popplio you’ve already tapped will be facing the direction your player is standing, so this should help you identify which ones you may have already checked out.
What the Community Day campaign achieves PopplioLearn about evolution?
If you develop further Brionne in Primarina from 14:00 to 22:00 local time it learns the charged movement Hydro Cannon.
If you don’t manage to evolve it during that time frame, you’ll likely be able to evolve it to get Hydro Cannon during a Community Day weekend event in December. If you don’t want to wait, you can use an Elite TM to get the switch.
How does Primarina perform in the meta?
Primarina is a great PvP choice, according to Silph Road researcher and PvP expert JRE47. It’s great with its Community Day move (Hydro Cannon), so you should definitely grab one of these seals for PvP if that’s your thing.
Primarina is also a pretty powerful water attacker when equipped with Waterfall and Hydro Cannon. Of course, a normal Primarina will be outshone by Megas, Legendaries and Shadow Pokémon, but it is still very powerful and worth seizing.
How do I get the most out of Popplio Community Day?
The following bonuses will be active during Popplio Community Day:
- Triple XP for catching Pokémon
- Double candies for catching Pokémon
- Double chance for trainers level 31 and above to receive XL Candy by catching Pokémon.
- Frankincense lasts three hours
- Bait modules last three hours
- Popplio’s special photobombs when taking snapshots
- An additional specialty trade
- Stardust costs for trading halved
Still, you should definitely pop a lucky egg and an incense stick and try to grab some powerful Popplio.
If you can Mega Evolve Blastoise, Slowbro, Gyarados, Swampert, or Kyogre, you’ll receive additional Popplio Candy per catch.
In addition, Niantic is also offering special four-star raids from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., where Popplio will appear within a 300-meter radius of the gym for 30 minutes when you complete the Brionne raid. These raids cannot be done remotely. If you don’t get the Popplio you want with the usual spawn increase from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., you can try raiding for another chance.
