New team members for Team Rocket were recently added Pokémon Go Players to contend with and a new set of Special Tasks Tasks are coming with them.
Using Super Rocket Radar, players will have to chase down Team Rocket bosses and lower them. The activities below are mainly focused on beating bosses and catching Shield Pokémon. After you power up your Pokémon and perform PvE battles against Team Rocket logs and bosses, you will be presented with Shadow Moltres.
Note that this special research set is a sequel to "The Most Difficult Condition," and you'll need to complete that set before this opening. Each month seems to have a different set of special Research tasks to deal with Giovanni. Although the tasks are the same, the reward varies from month to month. Once you have one set of Giovanni Special Research, you won't see a new one until you hit the one you have.
Step 1
- Spin 10 PokéStops (500 XP)
- Failure Team 3 Red Rock Grunts (500 XP)
- Catch 1 Shadow Pokémon (500 XP)
Reward: 500 Stardust, 10 Poké Balls, 10 Razz Berries
Step 2
- Spin a PokéStop for 5 consecutive days (750 XP)
- Clean up 15 Shadow Pokémon (750 XP)
- 5 defeat attacks (750 XP)
Reward: 1,000 Stardust, 3 Hyper Potions, 3 Revives
Note: Cleaning the 15 Shadow Pokémon is an expensive task, sometimes costing 3,000 or 5,000 Stardust each. Look for Shadow Ratata or Shadow Zubat, which only costs 1,000 Stardust to clean it.
Step 3
- Use the 6 most effective charging battles in the gym (1,000 XP)
- Win 3 Great League Trainer Fight battles with another trainer (1,000 XP)
- Defeat 6 team of Rocket grunts (1,000 XP)
Reward: 1,500 Stardust, 15 Beautiful Balls, 5 Pinap Berries
Step 4
- Victory Rocket Leader Arlo (1,250 XP)
- Rock Rocker Cliff Victory Team (1,250 XP)
- Rocket Leader Sierra Victory Team (1,250 XP)
Reward: 2000 Stardust, 1 Super Rocket Radar, 3 Golden Razz Berries
Step 5
- Get Team GO Rocket Boss (2,500 Stardust)
- Fight Team GO Rocket Boss (1,500 XP)
- Separate Team GO Rocket Boss (3 Silver Pinap Berries)
Reward: 3,000 Stardust, 1 Fast TM, 1 charged TM
After beating Giovanni in the process, he discovers that he is trying to catch the Shadow Moltres he uses.

- Complete (2,000 XP)
