The new trailer for Pokemon scarlet and violet, which debuted Wednesday, showcased the game’s adorable new Pokémon. We’ve got a look at this generation’s launchers in action (although we still don’t have much information on their development). The trailer also introduced three new pocket monsters: Smoliv, Pawmi, and Lechonk. And fans are already raving about this new Pigémon, um, Pokemon.
Leak!! Welcome to the round Boi pantheon. Wooloo, Spheal, and Rowlet Hive gather. We have a new round in our midst. Look at this plump lad – with knobby little legs, tiny hooves, sleepy eyes, floppy ears and a noble, distinctive muzzle.
Lechonk is objectively the perfect name for this burly little fellow. I mean did you look at him? ‘Lechon’ also means suckling pig in Spanish – to be more precise, it’s a specific pork preparation – but don’t worry, it counts: lechonk is a truffle pig, here to use its sniffer! This new Pokémon “uses its sense of smell to find and eat only the most fragrant wild grasses,” according to a publication
Despite this armor strength, Lechonk is a shy guy. When an opponent attacks or is startled, Lechonk will “rush forward in a panic.” Judging by the trailer, that means this hefty boi spends some time dazed and confused on the ground. Extremely relatable. I too fall down when I’m intimidated.
I’ll just ask once: LOOK AT THIS LITTLE TANK. LOOK AT HIM.
I think it’s safe to say that Lechonk is already a fan favorite.
We don’t have any information on Lechonk’s development yet, but fans have some good suggestions.
Lechonk rounds off a sweet homage to scarlet and violet‘s new region that seems to have both Spanish and other European influences. (And Smoliv, the Smol Olive, really fits in here, too.)
Pokemon scarlet and violet will be released on November 18th on Nintendo Switch. We recommend catching as many Lechonks as possible.
