Today is the official start of the Pokemon trading card game‘s Lost Origin extensionthe could be the penultimate sentence for that sword and Sign (SWSH) era before new packs appear on base next year scarlet and violet. And it marks the return of the Lost Zone, the very occasional mechanic that completely changes how players approach the game.
In which Pokemon TCGCards that are dismissed or defeated go into the discard pile. It’s nothing to be proud of, but tThe game offers the cards all sorts of ways to come back from that shame. Not so the Lost Zone. This is where the cards come in never return
So while you might build your decks based on retrieving your energy cards from the discard pile, maybe with a Brock’s Grit or a Dark Patch, you could enter your very own Dark Patch this month. Once your opponent has relegated your cards to the Lost Zone, you won’t get them back that easily.
However, you also really want cards in that dreaded deck! Cards in the Lost Origin sets that have a swirling purple-blue pattern around the image possess Lost Zone abilities, which often give you enormously powerful attacks, but depend on you already having a certain number of cards in the have zone.
Take the Cramorant from Lost Origin. It has the lost stocks aCapability, which states
If you have 4 or more cards in the Lost Zone, ignore any Energy in that Pokémon’s attack cost.

Humble Bundle 2K Megahits Game Bundle for Covenant House
Providing shelter and supportive services to youth affected by homelessness
A number of games from 2K have been bundled together. You can pay whatever you want to support the cause, but if you want access to some of the big hits like Borderlands 3, The Bioshock Collection, XCOM: The Ultimate Collection, and Sid Meier’s Civilizatrion VI, you’ll need to pay at least $16. But hey, that’s hardly anything compared to the $663 value you get from all 18 games combined.
Sweet is not it? And that means Spit Innocently, which normally costs two water and one normal energy for 110 damage, is suddenly free. One of the set’s most wanted players, Giratina VStar, deals 280 damage on hit, but the consequence is that two of the attached energies are lost to the Lost Zone. Or you could argue, a great way to get some cards in, and wipe out an opponent’s card.
That means you’re going to see a lot more Energy cards in people’s decks for the foreseeable future, well this They’re not nearly as easy to retrieve. It will make for interesting times. Until November when another SWSH set comes out, Silver Tempest.
