Ash has been a busy body lately. Last year, he won the Pokémon World Coronation Series and will also retire as the protagonist of the Pokémon anime. It’s a bittersweet transition for those who grew up with him – but hopefully we’ll find closure in a reunion with his old friends Misty and Brock.
Instead of a movie or special, Ash’s adventure will end with a season ending Pokemon Ultimate Journeys: The Series
The Pokemon The anime series regularly confuses its main characters since the original anime depicted Ash’s first journey to the Kanto region. It started with Tracey Sketchit replacing Brock for a short time with episodes set in the Orange Islands. Brock reunited with Ash and Misty to travel the Johto region, but after this was completed, Misty was replaced by sibling duo May and Max. Brock then left when Ash entered the Unova region, but the original three got occasional cameos and nods to their early travels together.
The episodes will air in January in Japan, but there is no confirmed release date in English. In general, Pokémon episodes come to Netflix in bulk, so there tends to be delays in receiving new episodes in the US
We don’t have too many details about the next adventure once Ash completes his. The classic duo of Ash and Pikachu is replaced by two new heroes: Liko and Roy. We don’t know much about the two, but their designs were shown off alongside the starter Pokémon from the Paldea region.
