Imane “Pokimane” Anys hosted her first Whirlpool stream, but she changed the format: she did it fully clothed.
One of Twitch’s biggest stars (with 7.8 million followers) competed against Twitch most controversial show typeand made fun of it for her birthday. On the average hot tub stream, someone answers questions from viewers while hanging out in the hot tub in their bathing suit.
But when Pokimane unpacked her robe and stepped into the camera frame, she was fully clothed, wearing a long shirt dress with a cartoon bikini body printed on it. The whole thing was a gag that was supposed to celebrate her birthday.
Pokimane then chilled in a huge hot tub with members of OfflineTV, a group of LA-based content creators, including streaming personalities like Lily “LilyPichu” Ki, Jeremy “Disgu ised Toast” Wang, and William “Scarra” Li. The group ate Evening, drank and chatted on various subjects like Naruto.
It was basically a live stream of the streamers, except that they all happened to be in a hot tub. Pokimane titled the stream “BEST BOOBAS ON THE SITE”.
Broadcasting from a hot tub in a bikini – “hot tub streaming meta” as it is known to fans – is a Twitch trend that emerged in early April. The streams purposely circumvent Twitch’s rules on sexual content, but they do not violate them. Still, “hot tub streaming” has sparked a debate about what Women should and shouldn’t wear while streaming.
Pokimane has declared neutrality in this debate. early MayShe told her fans that monitoring hot tub streams was a futile effort: “If you remove hot tub streams, people will just find another way to bypass the line, which is also sexually suggestive. I’m assuming Twitch will structure your website better. “
