With Final Fantasy XVIAhead of its June 22nd release, Square Enix has decided it’s finally time to release a PlayStation 5 demo for the action RPG so players can get a taste of the dark, game of Thrones-influenced sequel to itself.

The demo will go live worldwide on June 12, beginning at 4:00 p.m. ET in the United States. It takes place at the beginning of the game, lasts more than two hours and seemingly guides the fans through the game Final Fantasy XVIis the prologue in which the protagonist Clive Rosfield is still young. Best of all, players’ progress carries over to the main game if they decide to purchase it, and they can continue their adventures through the war-torn world of Valisthea.

Producer Naoki Yoshida made the announcement at a Final Fantasy XVI Celebrations, during which he also stated that a second battle demo will be unlocked for the game once players complete the first. Since the prologue will apparently contain a lot of cutscenes and Clive won’t be at full strength just yet, the battle demo will show how that’s done Final Fantasy XVIThe new real-time combat system looks and feels like it’s in action once you’ve got real powers and abilities to play with. However, it apparently takes place in a very dark fortress and Yoshida told fans not to worry, the rest of the game will be much brighter.

Final Fantasy XVI is supposed to be one of the most mature entries in the legendary RPG series. Actually so grown up that The adorable Moogles were nearly eliminated from the game due to the mature themes and tone of the narration. This will also be the first game in the series where you have direct control over summons like Ifrit and Phoenix to make them powerful and formidable Eikon battles. It should be sick.
