During Insomniac Games’ presentation for the upcoming PlayStation Exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Introducing creative director Bryan Intihar new concept art by Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they battle legendary villain Venom. Intihar revealed that Venom’s host won’t be Eddie Brockthe most well-known symbiote host, but an entirely new character, leading fans to speculate online as to who the unfortunate person might be.
“Our goal was to tell an original story: something that hasn’t been seen in the comics and movies,” Intihar said. “Obviously we love Venom for a reason [and] All the things you love about him will be there, but as the story develops; Who is Venom? You have to play the game to see it.”

It’s been 24 hours since Insomniac Games allowed players to ponder who might be Venom’s host, and many have landed on the theory that it’s Peter Parker’s best friend. Harry Osborn. This idea certainly carries some weight considering the specific storyline of its predecessor. Marvel’s Spider-Mangot stuck in the after-credits scene.

While the first SpidermanResearch station side quests, Peter is tasked with cleaning up numerous air pollution sites that Harry left unfinished. Towards the end of the game, Peter and Mary Jane Watson discover that Harry is terminally ill. However, in an after-credits scene, Harry’s father, Norman, enters a hidden room in his mansion, where Harry is revealed to have been swimming like a pickle in a green vat. Before the scene ends, we see a sinewy strand of the Venom symbiote in the tank with Harry.
While the theory makes sense, fans believe Insomniac will take a less obvious direction with Venom’s identity.
“Harry has too easy a choice, so I honestly hope it’s a misdirection.” hday108 wrote in the subreddit r/SpidermanPS4. “Because if Harry dies as Venom, Goblin’s only motive will be revenge, which I think is kind of lame and generic.”
“I have a bit of a problem with Venom playing Harry, mainly because he didn’t prepare for the role of Venom himself.” MrBojanglesIV wrote in a separate thread. “My problem with Harry is that we haven’t seen any sign of Peter being pursued as a Venom person. As far as we know he and Peter were best friends up until his coma and even then Peter is puzzled by his current condition.”
A perceptive Reddit user named Walo-888 pointed out that Harry as Venom would make thematic sense given the new concept art, in which Venom fights Miles and Peter has a billboard for “Emily May Foundation“, which happens to combine the names of Harry and Peter’s late mother and aunt respectively.
Whether or not fans’ Venom identity theories pan out when Spider-Man 2 will be released on October 20th for PlayStation 5. Intihar assured players that there will be more villains in the game for Peter and Miles to contend with that aren’t named Kraven or Venom. I pray for their safety Screwball will not cross paths with Peter while wearing this symbiote suit.
