There’s a new one Rainbow Six Game out today, but it’s not like that all previous entries in Ubisoft’s long-running tactical shooter series. Instead, this new entry, Rainbow Six SMOLis a top-down cartoon roguelite mobile shooter available exclusively to Netflix subscribers.
That is new Rainbow Six The spin-off was first revealed on February 20th during the Rainbow Six Siege Invitational in São Paulo, Brazil. There are some familiar faces to be seen siegethis is not a direct sequel to this game, but a new spin-off based on it Rainbow Six Franchise.
Ubisoft describes SOL as a “top-down isometric rogulelite shooter” that offers a “tiny, fun, quirky” variant Tom Clancy Rainbow Six Universe. Now available on iOS and Android, SOL has players controlling a group of R6 Operators who undertake various missions around the world. Each operator has their own weapons, bonuses and unique abilities. Ubisoft says players will need to assemble squads of recruited operators to create the perfect team for each mission.
“We saw an opportunity here to expand the audience a little bit, with a more accessible take on it Rainbow Six Universe,” said creative director Renaud Forestié The edge.
How Rainbow Six Siege, SOL contains highly destructible environments that allow players to approach each mission differently depending on their playstyle. Do you want to go in hard and loud? You can do this and break down any walls that stand in your way. Do you want to be quiet and sneak around? You can too, provided you have the right team and operators.
This is a roguelite, which is a bit of a nebulous term these days, but in this case it means that after each successful mission, players can use earned XP and credits to unlock new upgrades and weapons for their operators. However, if an operator dies, that’s it. They are dead and gone forever. Ubisoft says losing is “not recommended.”
Something to keep in mind: Because this is a Netflix exclusive game There are no in-game microtransactions to deal with here (Although this rule might change one day…) So everything is included SOL is unlocked and earned through gameplay. That’s nice, but I’m a little sad that this is locked behind a Netflix account. I’d rather just spend $15 on it and play it on my PC or console. Hopefully that will become an option later.
