Reacher is a crime series about a big guy who solves big mysteries, mostly with his big muscles. It's won hearts and minds thanks to its continued focus on this simple but laudable premise, and Season 3 seems to hint at it again in its new trailer, as gentle giant Jack Reacher faces off against a guy even bigger.
The third season of Reacher arrives on Amazon Prime Video on February 20th and begins with three episodes in which the retired US Army major goes undercover to investigate a carpet import business that appears to be up to no good and has stolen weapons, drugs or other goods smuggling products. In this latest assignment, Reacher faces his toughest challenge yet: a 7-foot-tall bodyguard named Paulie. “He’s twice my size,” Reacher tells his handler. Yes…ha ha ha…YES.
The fans are already excited. “Someone is bigger than Reacher. That alone is a good reason to watch season 3,” reads the top comment on the season 3 trailer’s YouTube page. “Finally a worthy opponent for Reacher! This deserves unlimited seasons, keep it up!” reads another. “This show should run for 30 seasons,” a third added.
The success of Reacher is part of a current wave of “lean-back” television. also known as “smart-dumb” televisionwho gives himself over to the fun and satisfying pleasures of storytelling, who knows what it's about, does it very well, and doesn't try to take himself too seriously. Where Lincoln Lawyer Indulges in absurd but absolutely magnificent courtroom antics, Reacher in a blatant show about a decent, upstanding man who never encountered a bad situation that couldn't be righted by the careful use of his muscular biceps and manhole cover quads .
In season 2 He threw a grill at a guy. I can't wait to see what he picks up in Season 3.
