Revealed less than 24 hours ago, Elden Ring: Night rain has already announced its first network test where players can try out the online multiplayer spin-off. The test will take place in early 2025, with registrations starting next month.

“The network test is a preliminary verification test where the selected testers play part of the game before the full game is released,” he said Announcement on Bandai Namco website reads. “Various technical reviews of online systems will be examined through large-scale network load testing.” Registration will be open to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players and will take place on January 10, with the test going live in February.

While Elden Ring: Nightreign can be played in single player mode, one of the main attractions is the ability to overcome the challenges of the open world as part of a team of three. Although FromSoftware doesn't specifically call it a roguelike, the action role-playing game revolves around single playthroughs where you explore a world with a day and night cycle and random environments and encounters, with boss battles becoming increasingly intense as the game progresses.

As players' characters progress with each run, they can also unlock permanent stat bonuses that carry over between runs. The game's first trailer also shows combat that is much more stylized than in the original game, with characters performing faster and more sophisticated movements. We'll see how this all works in practice when the first network test goes live in February.

While the Elden Ring: Nightreign Playtest will only be on PS5 and Xbox Series Despite the official sequel Elden Ring In the series, FromSoftware states that there are currently no direct sequel to the 2022 game planned any time soon.
