Justin Roiland, TV series creator Rick and Morty and the recently released ones high in life Spiel, has been charged with domestic violence against a former girlfriend.
NBC News reports that it has obtained Orange County Superior Court records showing that a criminal complaint was filed against Roiland by the Orange County District Attorney back in May 2020. The complaint charges Roiland with “one felony count of assault and one felony count of false imprisonment by threat, violence, fraud and/or deception.” Roiland was arrested and released on $50,000 bail in August 2020 and pleaded not guilty to both counts in October of that year.
After NBC News The victim says the incident between her and Roiland happened around January 19 this year. A protection order was filed in October 2020, stating that Roiland must not harass, threaten, monitor or be within 100 feet of an unidentified person protected under the order. The order also caused Roiland to relinquish ownership of any firearms he owned or possessed. The order lasts until October 2023.
