Back in 2019, in the past Ukraine-based illustrator Kutty Sark celebrated Inktober with a series of Sailor Moon photos who portrayed the girls as straight forward witches (this is not the blog to have fun discussions about whether using wands and magic means Sailor Moon beautiful a witch, thanks).

This team of cosplayers, costume designers and photographers took this idea and set about bringing Kutty Sark’s work to life by recreating the illustrations with a cosplay shoot.

If the entire pitch sounds vaguely familiar, that’s because it was put together by some of the same people behind 90s x Sailor Moon Shooting that we presented a few years ago, and this remains one of the coolest cosplay posts our sadly abandoned cosplay page has ever published.

Below you will find both the original images and the cosplay images inspired by them.
