Jim Boone, Volition’s chief creative officer announced that the publication of the Saints Row Restart has been postponed, about quality concerns.
the less silly Saints Row should be out on February 25, 2022 – already a month packed with games. It will now be published on 08/23/2022.
In an official statement, Boone explained why open world play is being pushed back:
Our priority is to create the best Saints Row Game still and if we were released on the original date it would not live up to the standards we have set ourselves and that you expect and deserve. The team just needs more time to live up to our vision; We’re working on some fine-tuning and not much will change in the game other than general quality and tweaking.
In all honesty, we underestimated the impact COVID had on our schedule, even though everyone adjusted very quickly to the home office arrangement and continued to be incredibly productive.
Because of the size and scope of our new Saints Row, it became clear that we need to give our team more time to perfect their craft in order to create the best game possible.
As mentioned in our announcement Saints Row in August this will be the biggest and best Saints Row Game of all time and in order to achieve our goal, we have allocated a generous but necessary time to realize our ambitions.
Rest assured there will be no changes to the story or the characters or anything that we have lovingly imagined and already shared with you over the past few years.
For the past two years all corners of the entertainment industry have been affected / influenced in one way or another. As gamers ourselves, we know what it feels like to have delayed something you’ve been looking forward to for a long time. it’s frustrating and you are disappointed. But we will also know that when we finally do Saints Row
in your hands, it was worth the wait. Getting this right is our absolute priority.
The original Saints Row was released in 2006 and spawned three sequels, with the latest, Holy Row IV, will be published in 2013.
The new Saints Row was officially revealed in August 2021 and takes place amid rival gang factions in Santo Ileso, a fictional city in the American Southwest.
