SandlandThe 2023 manga and anime film were praised for their characters and narrative themes such as climate change and the effects of war, so here’s hoping the game is just as pointed with its commentary.
Skill-based combat on foot, explosive mayhem in vehicles
As mentioned in Sandlandis the first developer diary, Beelzebub has access to a skill tree and can use combination-based attacks when facing more challenging opponents. But the game’s most intense encounters will rely heavily on the player’s custom vehicles, which include tanks, mechs, motorcycles and hovercraft.
Enemies can also drive vehicles, so expect desert-based vehicular carnage. There are a variety of enemies scattered around Sandlandis the large map, including some encounters lifted directly from the manga, like the Geji Dragon boss.
An open world with dungeons to explore
Sandland features a large open world with desert and lush green biomes to explore. The game also promises dungeon exploration. Dungeons vary in size and include locations such as abandoned battleships, which also provide opportunities for looting and resource gathering in addition to the environmental stories they provide.
Setting up your base camp is essential
In addition to exploring, fighting, and customizing your vehicles, you also need to build your base camp. Not only is this area crucial to advancing the story, but it is also where you acquire the items for the game. The base camp expands as you complete quests, and you can even customize your own bedroom.
