The crazy guys over at GameFreak have done it again. Pokemon scarlet and violet push the series total four-digit Pokédex, and the special 1,000th Pokemon turns out to be a gold coin surfer geek with a fanny pack named Gholdengo. Will it sell me crypto? Is it did of crypto?? I can’t wait to find out.
I found out about Gholdengo for the first time out IGN, who noted the coin unit’s striking resemblance to a General Mills grain mascot, but was otherwise effusive in his praise. As it turns out, Gholdengo is the evolved form of Gimmighoul, a dungeonsNintendo-style mimic chest revealed earlier in the month. How this evolution takes place is the real magic. YouTuber nickcucc described it as“Probably one of the most boring yet radical developments you will ever experience in your entire life.”
When you defeat a Gimmighoul, it will drop gold coins. Once you collect 1,000, your Gimmighoul evolves into Gholdengo at the next level. “His body appears to be made out of 1,000 coins,” the Pokédex entry says. “This Pokémon gets along well with others and makes friends quickly with everyone.”
I am sure is make friends quickly. One moment you’re feeding Gholdengo a Bocadillo de Jamón, the next you’re talking your ears off about how to earn the Dengo Coin at 16 percent and you should buy the dip for it FTX token that just exploded

To the extent that Gholdengo looks like a walking Ponzi scheme, it’s demure proof of its own streak tireless durability through the decades. Pokemon is too big to fail. scarlet and violet‘s Performance problems can’t help it being that most pre-ordered game in franchise Story. So what if the 1,000th creature in the series looks like it just returned from making DeFi TikToks at Burning Man?
At the end of the day, for better or worse, millions of people including me will do whatever it takes to get another chance to catch these delightful abominations and run them asSpreadsheet so dull that even your H&R Baccountants cry. Even if the Pokémon in question is a literal keyChain, ice cream cone, or in this case Gholdengo. I’m going to catch so many of these goddamn things, and we will stop our diamond hands until the seas rise and swallow us whole.
