The eighth main part of the Five nights at Freddy’s Saga creatures starring a glam rock 80s version of Freddy Fazbear, a well-known robot that murders children who malfunctions on stage in front of his hordes of fans. When the animatronics technician wakes up, he discovers that he has picked up an unwanted passenger somewhere along the way. That’s right, you are in it. It’s like a Five nights Fanfiction up here.

To be clear, you, the gamer, are in control of a little boy named Gregory, and Gregory is in Freddy. Apparently, the boy was being followed by Vanessa, a security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s huge Mega Pizzaplex shopping mall, and took refuge in Freddy’s spacious chest cavity. Upon discovering this, the disturbingly sentient Mr. Fazbear Gregory tears limb by limb and bathes in his vital fluids.

Ladies and gentlemen, Van Halen more or less.

At least that’s what I expected from the bear. Instead, he befriends young Gregory and vows to help him escape the shopping complex. That’s right, instead of the serial bracket of a mysterious person on the phone, Freddy himself is here to save the day security breach. He hands Gregory a novel Fazbear watch that allows the two to communicate with each other while Gregory crawls through security openings and traverses dark corridors, relentlessly pursued by the wicked and bloodthirsty members of Freddy’s band.

It’s a nice twist on the serial formula, but I can’t help but fear the big metal bear. No matter how nice he looks or how neat he looks in his tiny hat, he has the somber charisma of a bear that has been scary instead of caring since 2014. Not only does the opening of the game ask me to help Freddy escape his locker room where he is locked up pending repairs, it also tries to convince me that climbing back inside is a good idea. Just look.

It’s actually a clever game mechanic that Gregory hides in Freddy, where he’s safe from pursuit by security guards, maintenance bots, and murderous metal musicians that are actually made of metal. But Freddy’s malfunction means his ability to recharge is limited, forcing Gregory to do it alone while the bear leads him out of a loading chamber. The whole thing is a little less scary knowing he is on your side unless you give it a second thought. I wouldn’t if I were you

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach is being developed by Steel Wool Studios in lieu of creator Scott Cawthon, who retired this year amid controversy over his Support of reactionary politicians. Despite some technical issues like stuttering when changing areas, it looks the best Five nights Game i played. The permissive exploration in first person helps build tension, the characters are bright, shiny, and terrifying, and Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex is a colorful ’80s consumerism nightmare, a real playground for sentient murder machines.

Yes, Freddy, you are. I’m watching you, fazbear.
