The Smithscript Shield is a small shield that can be found in Fire ring‘S Shadow of the Earth Tree Expansion. While it doesn’t block a lot of damage, it’s a solid parry shield. And more importantly, it includes an Ashes of War that lets you hurl the shield at enemies Captain America style. Yeah, it’s pretty cool.
Here’s what you need to know about the Smithscript Shield and where to find it.
Smithscript Shield Statistics and Features
The Smithscript Shield has a weight of 2.5 and requires the following stats to wear:
- STR-10
- DEX-15
- INT-11
- FAI-11
The weapon comes equipped with Ash of War: Discus Hurl. Ash of War allows you to throw the shield at enemies to deal damage. Once you throw the shield, it magically returns to your hands shortly after. This is probably not the best damage type in your kit, but can be a good complementary ranged ability for melee builds.
The Smithscript Shield can be upgraded to +10 with Somber Smithing Stones.
Smithscript Shield Item Description
The item description of the Smithscript Shield is:
“Round shield engraved with blacksmith script. A throwing weapon made by blacksmithing. Can be thrown by performing the weapon’s skill.”
Where can I find the Smithscript shield?
You can find the Smithscript Shield in Taylew’s Ruined Forge. This dungeon is located in the Scadu Altus and is easily reached by heading north of the Ancient Ruins Base Site of Grace.
When you enter the dungeon, go down a flight of stairs, then take a ladder down and jump across a gap. To your left is a stone golem and the Smithscript Axeif you would like to take these with you while you are here.
As you continue, at some point you will have to jump onto a massive pillar hanging from the ceiling. On the other side from where you jumped off is a platform with a slime enemy on it. If you jump over it and defeat it, you can unlock the Smithscript Great Hammerto.
Now jump back to the pillar and run to the top. Jump onto the platform on the right and go through the door directly in front of you. There are plenty of lava giants to deal with in this room, so take them on one by one and aim for the red crystal on their backs to do more damage.
Once you’ve defeated everyone and feel safe doing so, head up the rubble to the right of the room (note that there is also a Stone Golem up here). When you get to the top of the rubble, you should see a corpse that you can loot to get the Smithscript Shield.
