Despite all these restrictions and the fact that the Dreamcast was discontinued in 2001, Shenmue 2 was introduced in that console at the end of the same year, at least in Europe. And it was there.
Yu Suzuki stayed in Sega for a few more years and helped build Virtua Fighter 4 and Outrun 2, but in 2011 he left the company to focus on his own studio, Ys Net. Over the years he tried to revive Shenmue to say how much money was left, but the franchise was wrapped up in a quiet place that did not bode well and fans once thought Ryo was lost forever.
When it was released, it was seen as a series of exotic games, and failed to keep Dopcastcast on its own despite a very strong investment (selfish stagnation here does a lot of damage). As soon as the first moments had passed and the extraordinary image quality was thanked at the time, players were faced with a game that took you from one place to another, asking the same questions over and over again until they were able to find the clue, and so Ryo started the cycle again.
The fight was well presented and was based on the principles of the Virtua Fighter, which is probably an additional problem as this was not a commercial title itself. Although – or perhaps thanks – that the players had to accompany Ryo while doing everything, whether it was bizarre tasks or difficult times, they eventually ended up hating it.
In all of that, in the past, it's about the experience of returning to that cold and wet room with Ryo and Shenhua to think of two surfing situations representing a dragon and a phoenix, and then follow them until they leave. The only time we saw the spotlight was when it all happened near Shenmue 2. But as soon as it starts, Shenmue 3 will reveal to us that Shenhua's house is on the outskirts of a small town called Bailu, It is located in rural China. Anyway, it's better to get used to it because we will spend more time here.
Shenmue 3 takes the broadcaster to the spot where her predecessor left her in 2001. Our goal will soon be to find Shenhua's father, Yuan, who disappeared under suspicious circumstances. Soon we will know that they have seen the outside tapjos nearby, and with that data as the only candle, Ryo and Shenhua prepare to clear everything up. This is the part we tell you in detail in our examples. Now we have finally arrived.
This provocative action-based game has been the subject of much criticism – and has even turned into memes – but Suziki has provided the same and this new installment has continued as before. Shenmue is a lively scene full of dialogue, and you don't have to ignore anyone, because if we don't mention all the characters we might miss the reference. However, dialogues are common phrases that have been included, so we will not see the best comparisons.
Shenmue's splendor rests on the daily life of Ryo. Yu Suzuki would have ended up directing soap operators if this video game hadn't worked for him, and we say it with all due respect. No other game comes to mind when the NPC people are equally represented. We're not talking about having more or less characters; We're talking about a large number of people. They can be young or old, smart or very short, straight or big, or they are a mixture of all of the above. Anything else; They convey a sense of belonging. Technically it is a very weak link because the project is out of budget, but when the original is presented, the characters shine in their eyes.
With Shenmue 3, YS Net decided to use a simpler style and set aside photorealism to focus on bringing back memories of this enduring agreement, as well as reducing costs, apparently. This time will not be considered a masterpiece in the visual category in comparison to the best of this generation. There will be an almost cartoon-like scene, and even though some of the characters we meet, such as the big man running the taichi practice in town, will seem to be drawing a straight line. This does not prevent us from building links and empathy with them, that is.
Also noteworthy are the details and outsourcing of standard functions. For example, we can get someone to ask a martial artist if they wish to have a romantic relationship to see if Ryo can fall in love, or buy a lot of gashapon and give it to a child to sell a complete set and then pay for the medicine that your grandfather needs.
Shenmue presents its flaws in facial modeling and graphic depictions in more detailed contexts. Bailu seems to be a popular destination despite being made up of old rural buildings, and although we will be stuck somewhere throughout history, the map will be expanded as we go. In the beginning we have to focus on the important things and we will not hesitate to get the most out of it. In this way we will gradually find the best markets, regions and temples.
However, Bailu has nothing against Niaowu, which is a place we will visit in the second event of the match. Shenmue 3 has an open and constantly expanding world, and this time Niaowu will be full of fun details. Obviously we're not reviewing Grand Theft Auto, but we'll find that the game offers far more than expected, something to be praised as the game was funded by a refund. And does Shenmue 3 not only seem to be downgraded by the budget question, but it also seems that its inventor wants to keep the bar high as its predecessors leave it.
One of the most revolutionary things is combat, since it has gone from providing a slow-motion system based on the mechanics gained from Virtua Fighter to a more mysterious system where combat is integrated in real time with smart objects. Ryo will have a variety of strategies drawn from past deliveries and many more to learn throughout the third.
Instead of pressing a series of buttons simultaneously or pressing the buttons in a natural order, a certain sequence of buttons will now have to be pressed, and the process we selected will be performed on the screen in seconds. It is not as accurate as it should be, of course. For example, if we press "X, triangle, triangle" we will add the medal equally, but "X, triangle" will be the top kick. After that we will have to avoid being attacked by an opponent – if we stop the attack Ryo will continue to get hurt, but to a lesser degree – in due course. It looks dirty and bizarre, because it offers a fight that, instead of being the highest moments in the game, is nothing but special moments filled with frustration. And it's not that there are many battles, because most of the time we will be training ourselves in dojos or challenging our training game, so we won't have much time to practice what we have learned. And there won't be many QTE -Quick Time Events – like before, and this time they are not as personal as they used to be.
Though immersed in the spirit of kung fu film, Shenmue is not a war-based theme, but rather in Ryo and his journey, and now he has the company to solve his doubts and quench his thirst for revenge Shenhua has never had a chance to be a well-acted character in Shenmue 2, but in the third installment it will play a significant role building and will always be our company. We were able to get to know him better; but not in the grand scheme, but in the conversations that occur when Ryo returns home at night after a long day of questioning and gossip collection. The fact that the opponent should return home after sunset may sound like something repetitive and stressful, but in a way that adds a touch of truth to the whole.
It is clear that Shenmue 3 is not for everyone, but we do not believe anyone would consider it that way. His predecessors were a few of the most popular games, adding he shared the market with big guys like Goldeneye, Unreal and Halo. This installment was funded by fans and created by them, and it's clear that in return they will get what they wanted. And not only them, and all those who have been waiting for more than a decade to hear an episode of video game history for the first time.
We can compare it to Death Stranding, Kojima's latest product, because it is an unusual and unique title. However, we are confident that for many it will be easy to immerse yourself in the Suzuki buildup, because Kojima's bet can be excessive for some die-harders. Hopefully Suzuki will be able to finish the franchise in the future, because the plan is not yet finalized. In short, Shenmue 3 is a self-made game and has managed to break its hold on the industry. Maybe the road is narrow and the management still has room for improvement, but it's fun to enjoy this article.
